Responsibilities
CrossFit is a lifestyle, not a workout routine.
This comes as a shock to many who simply window-shop our website or the CrossFit.com mothership. “21-15-9 for time,” after all, sounds a lot like a prescription for a rep scheme, and very little like an investment in goal setting, nutrition education, rehabilitation, and personal responsibilty.
But you get more than you bargained for when you walk in these doors. We don’t claim to be the fixers of all things, but we’re happy to be the start.
We’re proud to be the front line in terms of body awareness. That includes wear and tear – we will do everything in our power to scale workouts to accomodate injury, but if anything is going to expose weaknesses that could lay you out during “real life,” it’s squat, pull-up, deadlift, lunge……… And that’s a good thing to know about, because now you can deal with it head-on!
What? Your knee started bugging you on your fourth set of squats? Good!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want you to have a knee injury. But remember, there’s nothing wrong with the squat: sitting down and standing up is a fact of life. The problem is you! Tight calves? Maybe. Tight quads? Maybe. Let’s figure it out and get stretching, rolling, heating, icing, learning about that part of our body.
How many times have you iced today? How about stretched? Unless you’re just hanging out on an inversion table all day, that big fat zero is not the right answer!
Get on it, just like Aaron and Bella in the picture: responsible athletes!

rolling it out feels gooood! so does laying down after a tough workout…two in one…even better!
that was a really fun workout. see ya tomorrow at noon.
I’m icing every day now and paying close attention.
You were a big help the other day, thank you! I look forward to class tomorrow!
I was really referring to Bella licking your wounds.
only emotional wounds…
